The Abilene Gun Club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting safe and responsible gun ownership, located in Jones County near Lake Fort Phantom. It has been in its current location for over fifty years, founded in the late 1940s post-WWII. The club offers a family-friendly outdoor recreational rifle and pistol shooting range across 23 acres, managed daily by a range officer. It serves approximately 1000 family membership holders, including men, women, and supervised youths. The facility is also used by local law enforcement, the prison system, Dyess Air Force Base security personnel, and concealed handgun instructors.
No consumption of alcoholic beverages, keep range clean, observe hours of operation, fire down range only, no fully automatic weapons, breech opened except when firing, sign in required, membership card presentation, no cans/trash for targets, under 18s must be supervised, shotguns not permitted.
