The Pennsylvania Game Commission manages over 1.5 million acres of state game lands across the Commonwealth, primarily for wildlife habitat management and lawful hunting and trapping. Secondary recreational uses, including shooting ranges on these lands, are permitted under the Game Commission's regulations. The commission provides resources for shooters, maintains public shooting ranges, and offers various recreational activities such as designated routes for horses and bicycles.
Riding activities are not permitted (except on Sundays or on roads open to public travel) from the last Saturday in September through the third Saturday in January, and before 1 p.m. from the second Saturday in April through the last Saturday in May. This does not apply to anyone lawfully engaged in hunting, trapping, or fishing.
