Hopewell Fish and Game Association, founded in 1940 in Stewartstown by a group of sportsmen including Ross K. Trout and others, was established not just as a gun club but with a broader mission to protect and preserve outdoor heritage, particularly hunting and fishing. The club's activities include wildlife conservation and management, and it operates on a property purchased in 1963, now featuring a clubhouse built in 1964 and expanded in the 1980s. The club is involved in various conservation efforts, including a trout nursery raceway started in 1967 in partnership with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, producing an average of 7,500 trout annually for local streams.
