The Pennsylvania Game Commission maintains shooting ranges on State Game Lands across the Commonwealth to provide resources for shooters, including hunters and non-hunters. Funded by excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment, these public shooting ranges require either an annual range use permit or a current Pennsylvania general hunting or furtaker license for use. The permit system was updated in 2023 to be valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.
Each licensed hunter or range permit holder may have one guest. Ranges are open year-round with specific hours. Users must clean up after themselves and avoid damaging the infrastructure. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
