The Pennsylvania Game Commission maintains shooting ranges on State Game Lands across the Commonwealth to provide resources for shooters, both hunters and non-hunters. Funded by excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment, these public shooting ranges require either an annual range use permit or a current Pennsylvania general hunting or furtaker license for use. The permit system was updated in 2023 to ensure all users contribute to the maintenance and development of the ranges.
Users must possess a range permit or hunting/furtaker license, clean up spent cases and remove targets, avoid shooting up backstop framework. One guest allowed per permit holder. Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
