The New Mexico Big Horn Gun Club (NMBHGC) was established in 1977 by local black powder shooters. It is a non-profit organization affiliated with the NRA, promoting shooting sports and providing a safe range facility for its members. The club is open to the public, welcoming new members from surrounding communities including Edgewood, Moriarty, Tijeras, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. It sponsors various events and activities throughout the year, including the annual black powder rendezvous, 'The Cache Le Plew.'
Shotgun shells must be picked up; respect road conditions and do not tear up the county park road; dues payable by cash or check only, no credit cards; .22 rifle competitions have specific ammo velocity and gun rest rules.
