Scrivner Road Conservation Area, located in Cole County about three miles south of Russellville, spans 919 acres, including the nine-acre Winegar Lake and over two miles of South Moreau Creek frontage. Donated in part by Mrs. Alvon Winegar in 1984, this former cattle farm has been transformed into a site managed for wildlife and public recreation. It features an 8.5-mile Moreau Creek trail system and a target shooting range with shotgun, and 25-, 50-, and 100-yard rifle and pistol ranges. The area emphasizes wildlife habitat through periodic prescribed burning and the restoration of native habitats.
Multi-use trails are closed to bicycles and horses during firearms deer season and spring turkey shooting hours. Special length and creel limits for fishing. Target shooting is restricted to designated ranges. Collecting wild plants and animals is generally prohibited.
