MDC's shooting range and outdoor education centers offer a variety of programs and services to enhance the skills and safety of hunters and outdoors people, regardless of their experience level. Funded through federal aid grants, these centers emphasize the proper handling of equipment and safety, providing facilities for rifle and pistol shooting, training rooms, and eye and ear protection. Special events, outdoor skills training programs, and a quarterly newsletter are also available.
Prohibits steel jacketed, steel core, or armor-piercing bullets; tracer and incendiary rounds; drugs or alcohol; smoking on firing lines; more than two people in a booth; firing at non-designated targets; household pets on the range. Requires eye and ear protection, adult supervision for shooters 15 and under, and adherence to cease fire commands.
