Myrtle Grove WMA, located in Charles County, Maryland, near La Plata, encompasses 5,190 acres, making it the largest Wildlife Management Area in the Southern Region. Originally acquired in 1929, it includes forested bottomlands of Mattawoman Creek, historically home to the Piscataway Indians. The area is managed for diverse wildlife populations and habitats, offering public hunting, fishing, and other wildlife-dependent recreation.
