Tri-County Fish & Wildlife Area was established in 1951 with formal management beginning in 1953. In 1963, a dam was constructed at the outlet of six natural lakes, creating Flatbelly Marsh, which serves as an important area for migratory waterfowl, furbearers, shorebirds, and fish. The area is funded by the sale of hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses, as well as federal programs, and offers 3,546 acres of land with 650 acres of lakes and impoundments.
All hunters, range users, and dog runners must sign in and obtain a one-day access permit. Antlerless deer cannot be taken with a firearm during firearms season. Dove hunting requires NON-TOXIC shot. Put-and-take pheasant hunting is reserved and other species cannot be hunted during this time.
