The Wilmington Trapshooting Association (WTA), located in Newark, DE, has been a hub for trapshooting enthusiasts since its inception in 1910. Initially backed financially by the duPont Company, it transitioned from the duPont Gun Club to WTA in 1916, becoming a shareholder club with significant investments from Alfred I. and William DuPont. In 1971, it evolved into a membership organization through a merger with the Frenchtown Sportsmen? Association, establishing its current grounds in Glasgow, DE. Today, the facility spans over 40 acres, offering 14 trap fields and 2 skeet fields, and has thrown millions of trap and skeet targets over the past 50 years.
WTA has safety rules posted in the clubhouse for a safe shooting environment, requires new shooters to undergo safety and shooting instruction, and does not rent or loan shotguns. Personal shotguns must be inspected for safety.
