Range Description
Golden State Target Center, also known as the Scarborough Fish & Game Association (SFGA), is a premier shooting range and firearms facility located on approximately 247 acres of secure, gated land. Established in the 1940s and incorporated in 1958, SFGA has grown to over 1,000 active members, making it a vibrant community for firearm and archery enthusiasts. The facility offers a diverse range of shooting disciplines including archery, indoor ranges, rifle, sporting clays, IDPA, precision pistol, skeet, and trap shooting. This variety caters to both beginners and experienced shooters, providing ample opportunities for skill development and competition. The club is open to members seven days a week from 8 AM until sunset, with lighted ranges available until 9 PM when in use. Safety is a top priority, with strict rules in place such as no shooting before 8 AM and the requirement for eye and ear protection. Membership at SFGA requires an application process that includes sponsorship from an existing member, ensuring a welcoming and responsible community. The application fee is $50, with additional dues detailed in the application form. Members benefit from access to various shooting disciplines, training courses, and events. The training programs offered include NRA Chief Range Safety Officer classes, NRA Range Safety Officer classes, and NRA Basic Instructor Training, ensuring that members receive quality instruction from qualified instructors.
