Range Description
On Mission Firearms, located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, offers a unique shooting experience tailored for military personnel and their families. The facility is part of the Army MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) program, which aims to provide recreational opportunities to service members and their families. Although Range 15, the primary rifle and pistol range, is currently closed due to operational changes expected to last until 2026, the community is encouraged to utilize the Shotgun Shooting Complex and explore new hunting opportunities offered by Outdoor Recreation. This complex features six skeet fields and four trap fields, making it an excellent venue for shotgun enthusiasts. The facility is designed to cater to shooters of all skill levels, from beginners looking to learn the basics to experienced marksmen honing their skills. The outdoor ranges allow for rifle shooting at distances up to 300 yards, while pistol shooters can practice at 10 and 20 yards. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, fostering a sense of community among shooters. Safety is a top priority, with strict rules in place, including the requirement for eye and ear protection. The facility also has an onsite shop where visitors can purchase cleaning supplies and ammunition. Pricing is affordable, with day passes available for $10 for DOD ID cardholders and $13 for non-DOD ID cardholders. Unfortunately, there are no firearm rentals available, and participants are required to bring their own weapons. The facility does not offer memberships or training courses, but it serves as a valuable resource for those looking to engage in shooting sports. Accessibility is enhanced by the base's location, making it convenient for military families. Overall, On Mission Firearms provides a safe, welcoming environment for shooting sports enthusiasts, promoting skill development and camaraderie within the JBLM community.
