Range Description
Ricochet Range, also known as the Etowah Public Shooting Range, is a premier outdoor shooting facility located approximately 5 miles north of Gadsden, Alabama. This range is unique in that it offers shooting opportunities at distances up to 200 yards, making it suitable for both novice and experienced shooters. The facility features four distinct ranges, each designed for specific distances of 25, 50, 100, and 200 yards, all positioned side by side with a dividing berm. This design allows shooters to go downrange independently, enhancing safety and convenience. A small concrete pad for shotgun shooting at clay targets is also available, situated south of the 25-yard pistol range. The range is fully wheelchair accessible, with concrete walkways providing easy access to the target lines. Currently, the range is undergoing a major renovation that will introduce new ranges, a classroom, and additional staff, promising an even better experience for visitors. The range operates during daylight hours only, except by special permit, ensuring that all shooting activities are conducted safely and within a controlled environment. To use the range, Alabama residents aged 16-64 must possess a valid hunting, heritage, fishing, or WMA license, while non-residents need a valid WMA or non-resident hunting license. The facility enforces strict safety measures, including rules against alcohol consumption, and mandates that all firearms remain unloaded and pointed downrange when not in use.
