Range Description
The R. Wayne Bailey-Caswell Shooting Range, managed by NC Wildlife, is a premier outdoor shooting facility located in Yanceyville, North Carolina. This range is designed to cater to a wide range of shooting enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced marksmen. The facility is unique in that it offers a variety of shooting options, including a 100-yard rifle range equipped with five shooting stations, a 25-yard pistol range also featuring five shooting stations, and a roaming archery course with ten separate 3D targets. This diversity allows visitors to engage in multiple shooting disciplines in one location, making it an ideal destination for families and groups looking to enjoy a day outdoors. The range is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM and on Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM, providing ample opportunity for shooting practice throughout the week. However, it is important to note that the range is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, state holidays, and during special permit hunts, which are announced at least two weeks in advance. Access to the range is free, but visitors must obtain a range pass on-site after watching a safety video and reviewing the rules with a Range Safety Officer. This emphasis on safety ensures that all participants are well-informed and prepared for their shooting experience. While the range does not offer firearm rentals, ammunition sales, or gunsmithing services, it provides a well-maintained environment with concrete parking spaces and paved sidewalks leading to shooting shelters and target areas, ensuring accessibility for all users. The R. Wayne Bailey-Caswell Shooting Range is an excellent choice for those looking to improve their shooting skills or simply enjoy a day of outdoor recreation in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
